What type of funeral is required?

Choosing the type of funeral

We at Arlington Funeral Services find that this is normally the one aspect families and friends talk about, whether to have a burial or cremations. The choice is deeply personal and can sometimes be influenced by either religion, family or cultural beliefs and traditions.

If you choose burial the Directors at Arlington Funeral Services will enquire about availability in Stoke-on-Trent, and also comply with local regulations. Our Funeral Directors will also be able to advise you on any specifications or conditions set by the authorities or cemeteries. In both instances there are costs to consider.

Should the wish be for the deceased to be buried in an existing grave or family plot, Arlington Funeral Services can assist with arranging for the grave to be re-opened. One of our Directors will advise you on the necessary paperwork to help facilitate this.

If the option is cremation, you will have to decide where the main service will be held. This can either be at your Church, Place of Worship, Community Hall or a committal service at the crematorium. As with burials, regulations are in place and there are restrictions on items, or personal keepsakes that can be cremated with the person and our Directors will advise you on any items you would like to accompany the deceased.

Remember
Remember Remember me when I am gone away, Gone far away into the silent land; When you can go no more hold me by the hand, Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay. Remember me when no more day by day You tell me of our future that you planned: Only remember me; you understand It will be late to counsel then or pray. Yet if you should forget me for a while And afterwards remember, do not grieve: For if the darkness and corruption leave A vestige of the thoughts that once I had, Better by far you should forget and smile Than that you should remember and be sad.
